- Broader terms curriculum mapping: using natural language processing and visual-supported communication to create representative program planning experiencesPublication . Duarte, Rogério; Nobre, Ângela Lacerda; Pimentel, Fernando; Jacquinet, MarcAccreditation bodies call for curriculum development processes open to all stakeholders, reflecting viewpoints of students, industry, university faculty and society. However, communication difficulties between faculty and non-faculty groups leave unexplored an immense collaboration potential. Using classification of learning objectives, natural language processing, and data visualization, this paper presents a method to deliver program plan representations that are universal, self-explanatory, and empowering. A simple example shows how the method contributes to representative program planning experiences and a case study is used to confirm the method's accuracy and utility.

CSR functions as the other side of the coin of Quality Systems, as both share the same basic philosophy and working paradigm.
- Critical reflections on tourism: phenomenological perspectives on global-South, degrowth and the role of visual aidsPublication . Nobre, Ângela Lacerda; Gameiro, Amandine; Duarte, Rogério; Jacquinet, Marc; Pérez, RafaelFrom a critical phenomenology perspective, it is possible to interpret tourism as an open arena where different players interact, thus illustrating the rationale behind their epistemic positioning. Tourism, as an economic sector, is both a product and a producer of what is happening at global level. This to-and-from mutual determinations may be exemplified by visual aids that help to map the conceptual models that shape scientific debate. The research objective of the present study is to critically explore the theoretical potential of the global-South paradigm in order to bring a better understanding of tourism, illuminating the creative tensions that are shaping this dynamic, complex, multifactorial and structuring sector. The global-South paradigm involves degrowth theories and other non-orthodox economic perspectives that determine how cities, communities and territories manage their symbolic and intangible heritage that, in turn, determine decision-making, political debate and, ultimately, the living conditions of their population. The contribution of the present research is to draw together a plethora of academic schools of thought that may help to critically identify the active forces in the tourism sector. The goal is not to offer detailed scientific evidence of the social, economic and political strains in tourism but to indicate and to highlight the potential that is already there to be explored in open reflection and in theoretical incursions, contributing to expand the horizons of thought and action of contemporary societies.
- Critical success factors for the adoption of activity streams in enterprise contextPublication . Silva, Luis Carlos; Isaías, PedroThe deployment of social technology within the corporate sector is evolving and increasingly demonstrating its value for connecting people. At a time when social media’s pervasiveness has shaped the business sector, it is important to explore new ways of optimizing its use and harness its benefits to their fullest extent, to engage the employees and the customers as well as to increase revenue. In the context of enterprises, the use of social media can profit from the organisation that activity streams offer. By grouping the actions of users in social media, an activity stream can offer a customized and organized visualization of events that can assist companies to make sense and manage their social media activities. This paper draws extensively from existing research on the application of information systems within enterprises to create a set of critical success factors for the implementation of activity streams. The critical success factors that this paper proposes were assessed through an online survey that was completed by 360 social networks’ users. The survey analysis showed a complete acceptance of the factors by the majority of the respondents, with a particular focus on factors deriving from three categories: effective communication, processes and activities, and strategy and purpose.
- CRM 2.0 and Mobile CRM: a framework proposal and study in European Recruitment AgenciePublication . Gregório, Tânia Isabel; Isaías, PedroCompanies are becoming more focused on customers and on new ways to approach them individually. Mobile technologies and Web 2.0 have been pushing companies to evolve in this area. This research is focused on the way Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems are used, on a European level, by recruiting companies to assist candidates in finding a satisfactory job. A framework is presented to identify how CRM 2.0 and mCRM (mobile CRM) can help candidates to find jobs in a personalized way. A set of four hypotheses have been defined. To gain a better understanding of these CRM systems, the methodology used in the exploratory study was quantitative, employing a non-probabilistic sampling technique, with 35 recruiting agencies being studied. Results showed that the use of software in recruiting agencies is quite common and that CRM 2.0 is present in the vast majority of the studied companies. When it comes to mobile CRM, there's still much to be explored in this channel, as agencies focus their resources on Web 2.0, leaving this channel's great potential of mobile CRM unused.
- CSR disclosure on the web: major themes in the banking sectorPublication . Vilar, Vítor; Simão, JoãoPurpose – Corporate social responsibility became a core topic in the management and activity of banks. Being a bidirectional, permanent, updateable and universal access communication channel, the internet contributed to transform the way the organizations report social responsibility to stakeholders. The purpose of this paper is to understand how the banks use their web sites to disclose their social responsibility concerns and activities. Design/methodology/approach – The globe was divided in 11 regions, according to geographic and cultural criteria. Information was gathered from the corporate web sites of the ten major banks in each region, and their contents were analyzed. Geographic patterns and the correlation to universal development indicators were studied. Findings – The banks disclose on their web sites information on environmental management and socioeconomic programs. Other recurrent themes are the support to education, fight against corruption, workers’ welfare, corporate ethics and the existence of codes of conduct. There are geographic patterns in the quantity and detail of the information provided, as well as in the themes mentioned. The banks located in Europe, the American continent, and Oceania, are those who disclose more information. This confirms that the disclosure of social responsibility by the banks is larger and more detailed according to the development indexes of the country where they operate. Originality/value – The work studies the disclosure on the internet of information on social responsibility by the banks, being the first work to do it at the world level. This way, it provides a significant contribution to identify the themes that are more often disclosed and to establish comparisons between geographic areas.
