Henriques, SusanaÉ com um sentimento misto de orgulho e responsabilidade que, através do presente editorial, vos apresento o mais recente número da Revista Refas – Revista Fatec Zona Sul. Responsabilidade, porque se trata de uma revista científica prestes a completar uma década de existência. Durante este período temporal reuniu um arquivo de quase três centenas de artigos, em língua portuguesa, mas também em língua espanhola e em língua inglesa. A autoria destes artigos é igualmente diversa entre docentes, investigadores, discentes, colaboradores, tendo por base programas de mestrado, doutorado, cursos de graduação e tecnológicos. Enfim, uma enorme diversidade que se traduz em riqueza de conhecimento produzido e aqui partilhado. Orgulho por apresentar mais uma edição de elevada relevância científica. A presente edição mantém a organização dos artigos em função das áreas definidas no “Foco e Escopo” da Refas – Revista Fatec Zona Sul. A saber: Análise e Desenvolvimento de Sistemas, Gestão Empresarial, Logística e Temas Relacionados.

The key to success is seen not so much in how the information is presented as in how well the learners can manipulate the different tools available in technology-enhanced learning environments on their own. However, empirical research also shows that learners often struggle while confronted with a technology-enhanced learning environment. This special issue is envisioned to bring together the scholarly research and theory focused on contemporary issues related to both technological as well as pedagogical issues and its implications for learning and instruction.

When data becomes overwhelming in terms of volume and complexity, innovative techniques are required to extract meaning and transform this data into valuable information. This special issue of the journal focuses on the value of Educational Big Data in the context of different education levels, from pre-school to higher education. The manuscripts included in this issue approach the potential of EBD for academic performance prediction, learning analytics implementation, and the identification and improvement of student behavioral patterns and performance. They are centred on students and emphasize the role that technology can play in improving their learning experience and performance.

The conference papers have been extended significantly and all papers have been peer-reviewed further to achieve a final high publication standard.

The spread of the secret virus affected and impacted all the sectors including the education. Currently world-wide, the education sector is facing a huge impact as a result of the COVID-19, with universities forced to shift their teaching to e-learning and blended learning modes. Academics have had to adapt to this change, both by way of teaching and the assessment process. This has generated several challenges and opportunities for both academics and students. This special issue aims to investigate, assess and examine academics’ perspectives and perceptions with regard how they have handled this challenge as well as highlighting any opportunities and challenges they have experienced during this period. This new issue will add a new theoretical and practical significance to the e-learning literature review, as currently academics are facing new challenges and opportunities by changing their teaching mode from blend teaching to pure e-learning from the COVID-19. This special issue explored the following themes, namely, teaching mode, e-Learning, blended Learning and collaborative technology. The special issue is comprised of seven papers.
