- Ética e investigação no digitalPublication . Paz, JoãoEste ebook surge como resposta às questões e interrogações que têm emergido na discussão que a Comissão de Ética do LE@D tem tido com os investigadores sobre os desafios éticos quando estão em causa contextos digitais de investigação. Neste contexto, este volume recolhe contributos variados, procurando apresentar um conjunto de diretrizes que ajudarão a fundamentar o processo de tomada de decisões éticas em futuras investigações na área. Abordam-se i) algumas das questões éticas que se levantam no âmbito das comunidades de investigação; ii) os problemas éticos que se colocam ao investigador em Educação, quando recorre a tecnologias digitais para a recolha de dados ou quando o foco de investigação se situa em contextos digitais; iii) os desafios éticos que se apresentam nos estudos dos media sociais e os meios para garantir a proteção dos participantes; iv) as novas e importantes questões legais e éticas associadas às tecnologias emergentes que permitem processos de captura, preservação e utilização de dados em larga escala. É, ainda, disponibilizada em apêndice a tradução para português de Ethical Guidelines 3.0, da Association of Internet Researchers, que gentilmente consentiu na sua tradução para este volume.

- An on-line teacher training course on education for sustainability: assessment of open (mooc) and closed versions of the coursePublication . Caeiro, Sandra; Paz, João; Carmo, MárioThis paper reports the experience of a first edition of an on-line teacher training course on education for sustainability both for open (MOOC) and closed versions, and the respective assessment. The course was implemented by the Portuguese Distance Learning University (Universidade Aberta – UAb) under a protocol with the General Secretariat of Education and Science of the Portuguese State in an Open EdX platform (NAU). The results show that the planning, preparation of own materials suitable for the target audience and the validation of this type of open/massive and certified closed courses by different actors, before the course taking place is fundamental. It was also confirmed by the positive participation and feedback from the participants. In addition, the collaborative component in both course versions were fundamental to ensure success in this type of training actions. Differences in both versions were discussed as well as recommendations for future editions.

- “Suddenly we were all online": perceptions and practices experienced by faculty and students during emergency teachingPublication . The main objective was to understand how Higher Education faculty and students experienced the digital transition to emergency education and the pedagogical practices adopted during that period. The research was based on a mixed methods approach. In order to address the research objectives and describe the pedagogical practices implemented, specific instruments were developed for data collection, namely: a questionnaire aimed at students and interviews aimed at both students and faculty. These cover technological and pedagogical dimensions, as well as the assessment of the experience. The data collection took place at the end of the semester of the school year 2019-2020, with the participation of students and faculty from eight Higher Education Institutions (four Universities and four Polytechnic Institutes). The research results are currently under analysis.

The main objective of the general research was to understand how Higher Education faculty and students experienced the digital transition to emergency education and the pedagogical practices adopted during the period. The research was based on a mixed methods approach and, in order to address the research objectives and describe the pedagogical practices implemented, specific instruments were developed for data collection. A questionnaire was developed, aimed at students, and interviews aimed at both students and faculty, focusing on technological and pedagogical dimensions, as well as the assessment of the experience. Data collection was carried out after the first lockdown, at the end of the first semester of 2020, and took place in eight higher education institutions. In this paper we will present a preliminary analysis of Questionnaire results related to two dimensions: online communication and assessment.
