O mensageiro instantâneo em processos e tarefas de um curso online

Abstract(s)
O trabalho que agora se apresenta estrutura-se do seguinte modo: Inicialmente, abordam-se as perspectivas para o futuro da educação. Enunciam-se os fundamentos teóricos associados à educação online, particularizando cognição e aprendizagem; modelos de cursos, modelos de comunicação e meios de comunicação. Revêem-se as teorias da comunicação, nomeadamente as aplicadas à comunicação mediada por computador. Apresenta-se o mensageiro instantâneo, efectua-se a análise semiótica das características gerais destes programas de comunicação e apresentam-se, em revisão de literatura, estudos realizados sobre este meio de comunicação. No quadro da teoria da sincronicidade dos meios de comunicação, apresentam-se algumas hipóteses sobre a utilização dos MIs em ambiente de educação online e procura-se identificar quais as funcionalidades do MI valorizadas pelo utilizador. Explana-se o método de investigação adoptado nomeadamente os instrumentos de recolha dos dados e a análise dos dados. Finalmente, apresentam-se conclusões que apontam para a validade da Teoria da Sincronicidade dos Meios de Comunicação como modelo útil para suportar a utilização dos MIs na educação online.
The work that is now presented is structured in the following way: Initially are discussed some perspectives for the future of education namely the theoretical foundations associated to online education in its cognitive and learning aspects, models of courses, models of communication and media. Theories of communication are reviewed namely those applied to computer mediated communication. Instant Messaging is presented, together with a semiotic analysis of the general characteristics of those programs of communication and, in a revision of literature, some studies about this media are reviewed. Under the theory of media synchronicity, we consider some hypothesis about the use of IMs in the environment of online education and we try to identify which features have additional value to the IM user. We explain the approach of inquiry adopted namely the instruments of data collection and the data analysis. Finally, conclusions are presented that validate the adequacy of synchronicity theory to support the use of IM in online learning.
