- Compendium of principles and recommendations for inclusion, equity and diversity in higher education and lifelong learningPublication . Dias, Isabel de Barros; Porfírio, José António; Barros, Daniela Melaré Vieira; Gronita, Joaquim; Seara, Isabel; Antonaci, AlessandraThe Compendium of Principles and Recommendations on Inclusion, Equity, and Diversity, developed under Work Package 2 (WP2) of the Erasmus+ IncluDE project, presents a comprehensive framework of principles and actionable recommendations to promote inclusion, equity, and diversity across higher education and lifelong learning. It addresses a wide spectrum of inclusion challenges through a multi-level approach encompassing macro (policy), meso (institutional), and micro (practice) dimensions. Based on a Systematic review of recent research on best practices, national and international policies, and institutional guidelines, it provides guiding policy and pedagogical principles, as well as specific actionable recommendations for improving inclusion. The diagnostic tools and monitoring instruments provided establish a Reference Framework for higher education institutions (HEIs) to assess and improve their inclusion policies, thus supporting the development of inclusive environments across both on-site and distance learning contexts. The compendium is divided into two main sections, Social and Academic Inclusion, and Digital Accessibility, the first of which is subdivided into the following more specific focus areas: • functional disabilities; • specific learning disorders; • migrants and ethnicity; • gender; • prisoners; • army, athletes, and diplomatic staff. The expected relevance and impact of this work is to empower HEIs to identify barriers, implement inclusive strategies, and foster equitable learning experiences for all students, especially those in vulnerable or underrepresented groups. This compendium can serve as a foundational resource for shaping inclusive educational environments in alignment with European inclusion standards and fostering equitable access, participation, and success for all learners.

A comunicação e saúde nos diversos contextos de intervenção, configura-se a partir de complexidades derivadas dos processos de globalização, da multi/interculturalidade, de novas problemáticas e configurações saúde/doença e da crescente integração e utilização de tecnologias de comunicação e informação nos sistemas e serviços de saúde e nos meios de comunicação, implicando um olhar reflexivo e crítico sobre inovações técnicas e metodológicas neste âmbito. A obra organizada em quatro partes e vinte capítulos, dialoga com experiências de pesquisa e produção científica em Portugal e no Brasil, destacando universais, mas também diversidades, especificidades e complementaridades e proporcionando a visibilidade de diversas perspetivas de pesquisa nesta área. São analisadas e discutidas questões relativas à saúde nos meios de comunicação e à utilização da comunicação como recurso educativo e de informação em saúde e na mudança comportamental; e à importância da comunicação relacional e organizacional nos cuidados e serviços de saúde, bem como ao desenvolvimento de competências comunicacionais e interculturais na prevenção e na promoção de boas práticas de saúde em contextos de saúde e culturais diversificados. Koç University; University of Bologna; Erasmus University Rotterdam; Universidade Aberta; Gaziantep University; Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin; Silva, Mário Filipe da; Sousa, Lúcio; Sequeira, Rosa Maria; Gronita, Joaquim; Ramos, NatáliaThe ongoing refugee crisis in Europe and Turkey reinforced xenophobic and anti-immigrant sentiment, manifested in attacks on migrants, and those perceived as foreigners and support for populist anti-immigration parties in many European Union (EU) states. In many of the EU member states, high levels of immigration appear to have produced an increase in hostility toward immigrants (Quillian 1995; McLaren 1996b), increased support for right-wing parties (Knigge 1998; Lewis-Beck & Mitchell 1993), and even produced violent right-wing behaviour (McLaren 1999). “In September, United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Zeid Ra’ad al-Hussein warned leaders of populist parties in Europe about the corrosive effect on societies of their instrumentalization of bigotry and xenophobia for political ends.” (Human Rights Watch, 2017). As we see this trend continuing in Europe and Turkey, the question to ask is how to reduce intergroup prejudice and discrimination in order to promote inter-ethnic social inclusion. Indeed, immigration is very often source of “shock of the culture” for both native and immigrant people, often leading to what is called the “integration crisis”, that is, a conflictual situation among individuals with different geographical, cultural, or ethnic background. Such crisis is often caused by the necessity for individuals to redefine social interactions and norms that are adaptive for all social groups. To do this, it is essential to understand the perspective of both native, or the majority, and immigrant people, or the minority group. Research on social integration has shown that the inclusion of the new members in the host societies is the basis for social cohesion (Fleras, 2009), and continuous positive contacts between members of different groups (Allport, 1954) are necessary, as they increase native people’ knowledge about immigrants and vice versa, then break prejudices and stereotypes, facilitating the social cohesion.
