Abstract(s)
This article presents a case study on the use of three Web 2.0 tools (Toonlet, GoAnimate and podcasts) by a class of Portuguese seventh graders in the history classroom and how they used them to create their own digital content. The findings suggest that the use of these tools by the students promoted motivation to learn, creativity and positive changes in the students’ relation with history, as evidenced through interviewing, opinions expressed in the students final reports and analysis of the products created during the school year. The students found that the classes were more effective and engaging. Other important findings relates to the difficulty the students showed in the process of summarizing the information, abandoning the “hunter-gatherer” mentality and in the use of Toonlet and GoAnimate because they were in English.
