Abstract(s)
encontrámos as “Library lessons” americanas.
In the 21st century, the school library is a multifaceted space designed to acquire knowledge and teach literacies, which should support student learning throughout their education. However, in Portugal, this institution has yet to reach its full potential, being relegated to a secondary role in the school. Based on the guiding principles of the Portuguese School Libraries Network (RBE) and the requirements of the modern school library, we looked for a possible solution to the lack of importance that the library has in education and found the American “Library lessons”. This study is dedicated to the analysis of the reality of Portuguese and American school libraries, the phenomenon of "Library lessons" and the impact that this space may have on student development by being included directly in the curriculum, instead of serving as its mere auxiliary.
