Abstract(s)
Teoricamente, articulamos mobile learning e a abordagem bring your own device com áreas
In view of the constraints posed by the co-occurrence learning scenarios in secondary education, we set out to study the possibilities of Flipgrid as an educational resource for English as Second Language by implementing activities in Flipgrid to mobilize orality in any teaching scenario. Our theoretical framework articulates the European Framework for the Digital Competence of Educators (DigCompEdu) with core curricular documents such as the Students' Profile by the End of Compulsory Schooling, the English Language Essential Curriculum for the 12th Grade (continuation) and the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. Aligned with the critical paradigm and having an educational change in mind, we designed a context-specific participatory research for face-to-face, hybrid, and distance teaching scenarios. The purpose of the study was to perceive how Flipgrid (renamed Flip since June 2022) could be a fit educational resource for secondary school students to develop English speaking skills. The research design derived from a mixed approach methodology; a diagnostic phase informed the planning phase, leading to the design and implementation of asynchronous Flipgrid activities to mobilize English speaking skills. Observation was critical for research monitoring and adjustments. The evaluation of the study was carried out throughout all phases to monitor and ensure research quality. Our findings disclose the potential of Flipgrid as an educational resource for English as a Foreign Language in secondary education, particularly for activating English speaking skills, as well as a valid educational tool for other competence areas of the Students' Profile by the End of Compulsory Schooling. Therefore, we intent to continue to use it.
