Abstract(s)
Adotando a
Laws have been approved in Portugal, especially over the last thirty decades, which guarantee the right to sexual education as para of the fundamental right to education. To this effect, rules exist to establish that school programmes include scientific knowledge on prevention, according to the different levels of education. In connection with this preventive socialization context, we have sought to understand which logics determine and regulate practices and preventive choices (more specifically, pregnancy and HIV/AIDS) based on the relation everyday experience of young people. We have followed a qualitative methodology in our research, using the focus group research technique - involving 54 young Portuguese people, between the ages of 17 and 25. It is clear from the research results that the different experiences of sexuality, based on the expectations of gender, produce different fears and risks; the field of prevention is filled with ambiguities between the modern forces of rationalisation and the subjective moral forces, clearly showing that as far as contraceptive methods are concerned, choices made are first related to the category attached to the relational model, and secondly to the biomedical rationale.
