Reflexão sobre Henri Breuil (1877-1961) e o seu importante contributo para a Arqueologia portuguesa, atendendo em particular à sua primeira fase, entre 1916 e 1918.
São tratados os trabalhos iniciais deste arqueólogo em Portugal e a sua relação com outros investigadores e com as instituições locais. Apesar de alguns momentos conturbados, foi-lhe claramente reconhecido um papel fundamental no estudo do Paleolítico português.
Reflection on Henri Breuil (1877-1961) and his important contribution to Portuguese Archaeology, particularly during its first stage, between 1916 and 1918. The author explores the archaeologist’s initial work in Portugal and his relationship with other researchers and local institutions. Despite some difficulties, he has been recognised as having had a fundamental role in Portuguese Palaeolithic studies.
