Abstract(s)
In just 49 years of life and 30 of literary career, Antero de Quental left a huge mark on Portugal. His thought, materialized by his literary work and expressed in truly political actions, in the broadest sense of the term, make this author one of the most important among the Portuguese Letters. It is no coincidence that Eduardo Lourenço, probably the most important contemporary Portuguese thinker, devoted so much of his work to reflect on the anterian set of ideas, the reading of the author with whom his thought so often converged. This work will deal with the reading of Antero de Quental as carried out by Eduardo Lourenço, seeking to highlight the problematization of being-Portuguese and the “concern for Portugal”, area of convergence between these two unavoidable names of Portuguese culture.
