Partindo do conceito de mito como um discurso sedutor que pretende oferecer
sentido para fenómenos, acontecimentos e criações da história, estabelecendo um
paradigma único de interpretação, este artigo procura estudar o profetismo mítico em
Portugal, como um elemento importante para a compreensão da mentalidade, da cultura
e do imaginário coletivo, desde os primórdios do Estado Nacional até a atualidade.
Based on the concept of myth as an alluring speech that aims to offer sense to phenomena, events and creations of the history, establishing a single paradigm of interpretation, this paper seeks to study the mythical prophetism in Portugal, as an important element in understanding of the mentality, of the culture and of the collective imagination, from the dawn of the nation state until the present day.
