| dc.description.abstract | O artigo apresentado estuda o tema do antibiblismo numa figura portuguesa contemporânea, Prémio Nobel da Literatura: José Saramago. Embora ele se mostre hostil em relação à Bíblia, considerada “manual de maus costumes”, o escritor português pensa sobretudo na instituição que a interpreta – a religião, ou a Igreja Católica – , e no modo como o faz, mormente através das chamadas leituras ‘simbólicas’. Por isso é possível aproximar também o escritor português ao antigo exegeta Marcião de Sinope ou aos deístas do século xviii. | pt_PT |
| dc.description.abstract | This paper presents a study on the topic of anti-biblism in a contemporary Portuguese author, José Saramago (Nobel Prize in Literature in 1998). Despite his attacks on the Bible as a “manual of bad habits”, the Portuguese writer is especially targeting the institution that interprets it – the religion, or, more specifically, the Catholic Church – , and the way this is done, foremost through the so-called ‘symbolic’ readings. Therefore, it is also possible to link the Portuguese writer to the ancient exegete Marcion of Sinope or even the 18th century deists. | pt_PT |
