Abstract(s)
Este trabalho pretende analisar a obra de Manuel Tiago, Até amanhã, camaradas e a sua
transposição para o cinema por Joaquim Leitão. Pretendemos ancorá-lo numa dupla
vertente, a do diálogo entre artes e da especificidade do tempo em que a obra se insere,
refletindo por um lado, sobre o diálogo que se estabelece entre as imagens e a literatura no
sentido de perceber o seu significado, pois este depende essencialmente de uma relação
predeterminada com os elementos que o constituem, os quais são fundamentais para a
compreensão intrínseca dos seus sentidos, ao mesmo tempo que nos debruçámos sobre o
seu contexto e limites temporais onde ressalta um Portugal oprimido pela ditadura, onde,
no entanto, surgem aqueles que resistem e se organizam para mobilizar o povo a lutar por
pão e liberdade. As suas personagens são um retrato dos homens e das mulheres que
dedicaram as suas vidas a essa luta; os seus ideais, as suas paixões e os seus sacrifícios.
Daqueles que mostraram fraqueza e dos que deram a vida por aquilo que acreditavam.
Da passagem do livro para o filme sobressai a problemática da adaptação a qual tem sido
atormentada pela questão da fidelidade, para, de forma breve, analisar a literatura e o
cinema como formas narrativas diferentes, ressaltando as características e particularidades
entre os dois géneros.
Ultrapassados que são estes prolegómenos teóricos, importa fazer um pequeno bosquejo
histórico para refletir sobre o ambiente temporal da obra – o Portugal dos anos quarenta e o
Estado Novo de onde ressalta a personagem de Salazar, a ditadura, o obscurantismo e a
miséria.
Faremos ainda uma breve referência ao Neorrealismo e ao Realismo socialista, que como
correntes literárias de alguma forma balizaram o autor e condicionaram a obra, para
seguidamente proceder então, a uma analise detalhada do livro e a questão da sua
transposição para o cinema procurando evidenciar os pontos de contacto entre artes num
dialogo permanente entre as palavras e as imagens num esforço contínuo e mútuo de
procurar expressar a realidade.
This investigation aims to discuss the transposition of Manuel Tiago’s novel, Até amanhã, camaradas into film by Joaquim Leitão. We intend to anchor it in two directions: the interart dialogue and time specificity in which the work takes place, reflecting on one hand, the dialogue established between the images and the literature in order to understand its meaning, as this depends essentially on a predetermined relationship with the constituent elements, which are essential for the intrinsic understanding of their meanings; and at the same time we worked through about its context and time limits as we see a Portugal oppressed by the dictatorship, where, however, we found those who resist and are organized to mobilize the people to fight for bread and freedom. Its characters are a portrait of men and women that dedicated their lives to this fight; their ideals, their passions and their sacrifices. The ones that show weakness and who gave their lives for what they believed. The passage from the book to the movie stands the problem of adaptation, which has been plagued by the question of loyalty to briefly analyze the literature and cinema as different narrative forms, highlighting the features and particularities between the two genres. Exceeded what are these theoretical introduction, one needs to do a small historical sketch to reflect on the environment of the work – the forties in Portugal and the Estado Novo which emphasizes the character of Salazar's dictatorship, obscurantism and poverty. We will do also a brief reference to the Neorealism and Socialist Realism, which are literary currents that somehow guided the author and conditioned the work, to then proceed to a detailed analysis of the book and to the question of its transposition into film hoping to show the interart contact points in a permanent dialogue between words and images in a continuous and mutual effort to seek and express the reality.
