Esta dissertação de Mestrado é fruto de um trabalho de pesquisas dentro do campo dos Estudos Comparados Interartes e Intermédia. Investiga as relações entre literatura e outras artes na sociedade moderna e contemporânea. Tem como objetos de estudos as produções autorais do artista e escritor Vincent Van Gogh (1853-1890) e o filme Loving Vincent, de Kobiela e Welchman (2017), este, o primeiro longa-metragem da história que foi inteiramente pintado à mão. O trabalho retoma a história da representação do movimento
nas artes visuais e localiza nas pinturas de Van Gogh a proposta vanguardista que viria a transformá-lo em um dos artistas mais presentes em obras de arte multimédia no século XXI. Do mesmo modo, expõe como um longa-metragem baseado em fatos reais apresenta, com plasticidade poética, sua vasta produção literária epistolar, de pinturas e desenhos reconhecidos no mundo todo. Nesse ínterim, discute as relações entre narratividade, representação, descrição e retórica presentes na écfrase cinematográfica. Mais ainda, abrese à discussão sobre as conexões entre e tempo e espaço em um aparato multimédia representativo da evolução da história da arte e do imaginário na sociedade contemporânea.
This master’s thesis is the result of a research work within the field of Interarts and Intermedia Comparative Studies. Investigates the relationships between literature and other arts in modern and contemporary society. Its objects of study are the artworks of the artist and writer Vincent Van Gogh (1853-1890) and the film Loving Vincent, by Kobiela and Welchman (2017), the first feature film in history that was entirely hand-painted. The work revisits the history of the representation of movement in the visual arts and finds in Van Gogh's paintings the avant-garde proposal that would transform him into one of the most recognized artists in multimedia works of art in the 21st century. Likewise, it exposes how a feature film based on real events presents, with poetic plasticity, his vast epistolary literary production, together with his paintings and drawings recognized around the world. In the meantime, it discusses the relationships between narrativity, representation, description, and rhetoric present in cinematographic ekphrasis. Furthermore, it opens the discussion about the connections between time and space in a multimedia apparatus representative of the evolution of art history and of the visual imaginary in the contemporary society.
