Neste artigo, a partir de um enquadramento morfológico da noção de conversão em diferentes códigos de escrita, procuro mostrar como a conversão de Iñigo/Ignácio descrita na Autobiografia, pode ser abordada no interior de uma história de longa duração das formas de conversão, encontrando apoio, nesse sentido, nas análises desenvolvidas por Pierre Hadot e Michel Foucault.
