Abstract(s)
No decurso de um largo lapso temporal,
balizado inferiormente pelos meados do
V milénio a.C. e superiormente pelo final do
primeiro quartel do I milénio a.c., foi a região
da Arrábida palco de diversificadas presenças
humanas, hoje em dia representadas por
numerosos testemunhos arqueológicos, objecto
de apresentação e discussão nesta comunicação.
Tendo cm vista a reconstituição das realidades
culturais e humanas que se sucederam na
ocupação deste notável território, com
características naturais e geográficas específicas.
Deste modo, serão apresentados os principais
sítios, tanto de carácter habitacional como
funerário, do Neolítico, do Calcolítico
Desde o último quartel do século XIX.
Com base na informação disponível, será
elaborada uma síntese geral da evolução das
principais etapas culturais regionalmente
representadas, numa perspectiva diacrónica, face
a realidades de expressão cada vez mais alargada
e complexa, ainda que desde sempre
estreitamente articuladas com o mundo
meridional e mediterrâneo, do qual esta região
fazia (e faz) parte integrante.
Over the course of a long time period, beginning in the middle of the 5th millennium BC and extending to the end of the first quarter of the I st millennium BC, the region of the Serra da Arrábida was the stage for a variety of human groups, today represented by numerous archaeological sites. The goal of this paper is to reconstruct the societies and cultures that existed over time in this important region, with its distinctive natural and geographic characteristics. Those sites, including both settlements and burials, of the Neolithic, Chalcolithic, and Bronze Age, will constitute the basis for the reconstruction of the economy, society, and culture of these ancient communities and will be presented here. Also discussed will be the most important artefacts, which has made the Arrábida one of the most important regions of our country from an archaeological perspective, since in the last quarter of the 19th century. With the available information as a basis, this paper will develop a general synthesis for the diachronic evolution of the principal cultural stages that are represented in this region in light of the material realities that become increasingly complex over time, although they are always linked to the Medilerranean world, of which this region was (and is) an integral part.
