Abstract(s)
Depois de uma reflexão sobre a literatura enquanto fonte histórica, designadamente os seus alcances e limites, procura-se, a partir de cinco folhetos humorísticos portugueses do final do Antigo Regime, perceber como eram entendidos o bacalhau e a sardinha no quotidiano das populações, ao mesmo tempo que se confrontam estas fontes literárias com outras diversas, de modo a corroborar as informações, no intuito de avaliar o valor destes textos.
After reflecting on Literature as a historical source, namely its scope and limits, we seek, based on five portuguese humorous leaflets from the end of the Ancien Régime, to understand how cod and sardines were understood in the daily lives of populations. The paper also aims analises how these literary sources are importants, compared with several others, in order to corroborate the information, to evaluate the valour of this texts.
