Abstract(s)
The present dissertation focuses on the study of the promotion of reading in school libraries in the Faro district (Portugal), carried out through the analysis of selfassessment reports, prepared by school librarians in 2017 and submitted to the Portuguese School Library Network (SLN / RBE). The research focuses exclusively on the analysis of domain B - Reading and Literacy of the School Libraries Self-evaluation Model (MABE), designed by the Portuguese School Library Network. The theoretical framework addresses a set of aspects related to reading and its promotion, including the role of the school library in promoting reading. We also analyse the School Libraries Assessment Model, proposed by RBE. In the empirical work, and specifically with regard to the data analysed on the district of Faro, it was found that, overall, the average of school libraries in the district is at the level of Good and that the school libraries serving the lowest grades have better results. These results become less significant in Secondary Schools' school libraries.
