Abstract(s)
Este estudo se fundamentou na Teoria das Representações Sociais (TRS), debruçando-se sobre o contexto de vida de imigrantes latino-americanos que vivem na cidade de Valência/ES. O objetivo desta pesquisa foi apreender as representações sociais (RS) dos imigrantes latino-americanos (argentinos, colombianos, bolivianos, brasileiros e equatorianos) residentes na cidade de Valência (Espanha) sobre os construtos: imigração e imigrante. Participaram 386 imigrantes latinos que responderam ao Teste de Associação Livre de Palavras e a um questionário sócio demográfico. Os resultados revelaram que as RS sobre a imigração incidiram sobre “dinheiro, trabalho, experiência, interculturalidade, viajar, partir, racismo, solidariedade, oportunidade, mudança, país, economia, superação” e, neste contexto, imigrante surge como sinônimo de “economia, aprendizado, benefício, forte, triste, viajante, lutador”. Conclui-se que as RS possibilitam melhor conhecimento sobre as atividades simbólicas, afetivas e cognitivas dos imigrantes em seu processo de interação social. Espera-se que tais resultados contribuam para os estudos das migrações no âmbito internacional, favorecendo mudanças positivas ao nível das práticas e políticas públicas para estes grupos.
This study was based on the Theory of Social Representations, focusing on Latin American immigrants’, living in the city of Valencia / Spain, life context. The aim of this research was to understand the social representations (SR) of Latin American immigrants (Argentines, Colombians, Bolivians, Brazilians and Ecuadorians) living in the city of Valencia (Spain) on the constructs: immigration and immigrant. 386 Latin immigrants who participated in the Free Word Association Test and a socio-demographic questionnaire participated. The results revealed that the SR on immigration focused on "money, work, experience, interculturality, travel, departure, racism, solidarity, opportunity, change, country, economy, overcoming" and immigrant emerges as synonymous with "economy, learning, strong, sad, traveler, fighter ". It is concluded that SRs allow better knowledge about the symbolic, affective and cognitive activities of immigrants in their process of social interaction. It is hoped that such results will contribute to the study of migration at the international level, favoring positive changes in the practices and public policies for these groups.
