| dc.description.abstract | As migrações são um fenómeno histórico e um dos principais desafios das sociedades modernas, dada a sua transversalidade e dimensão. Estas movimentações de massas acentuaram-se e provocaram transformações que se fizeram sentir a um nível planetário, em que as sociedades se passaram a caracterizar pela diversidade cultural e pelo multiculturalismo, vivemos agora num mundo globalizado e interligado. A realização desta dissertação teve como principal objetivo obter conhecimentos e compreender as crenças, valores e atitudes de profissionais do Serviço de Estrangeiros e Fronteiras – SEF, relativamente aos migrantes, por serem o primeiro organismo de contacto. Pretendeu-se aferir se estes profissionais alteravam o seu comportamento profissional, pela influência de preconceitos e estereótipos na construção das suas representações sociais em relação aos migrantes. Foi selecionada uma amostra de 24 profissionais do SEF, originários das regiões Norte, Centro e Sul do país, com ensino secundário e ensino superior, a exercer funções na Direção de Fronteiras de Lisboa. Para este estudo exploratório, foi privilegiado o uso do método qualitativo, pela aplicação de um questionário, através de entrevista semiestruturada, que permitiu a recolha de dados, que foram sujeitos a análise de conteúdo. Concluiu-se que praticamente todos os profissionais do SEF que participaram neste estudo evidenciaram crenças, valores e atitudes favoráveis aos imigrantes, com particular sensibilidade em relação ao fenómeno e demonstraram atuar com profissionalismo. Contudo, atendendo aos resultados obtidos, foi percetível, ainda que em números residuais, que alguns profissionais deste serviço de segurança, agora extinto, pensavam e atuavam sob influência de representações, estereótipos e preconceitos. Os resultados ilustram a possibilidade de realizar melhoramentos ao nível da formação, sobretudo através da aprendizagem e desenvolvimento de competências interculturais, fulcrais no processo de comunicação e interação, que facilitarão esta dinâmica entre povos e culturas diversas. | pt_PT |
| dc.description.abstract | Migrations are a historical phenomenon and one of the main challenges of modern societies, given its transversality and dimension. These mass movements became more accentuated and caused transformations that were felt on planetary level, in which societies began to be characterized by cultural diversity and multiculturalism, we now live in a globalized and interconnected world. The main objective of carrying out this dissertation was to obtain knowledge and understand the beliefs, values and attitudes of professionals from the Foreigners and Borders Service – SEF, in relation to migrants, as they are the first contact organism. The aim was to assess whether these professionals changed their professional behavior, due to the influence of prejudices and stereotypes in the construction of their social representations in relation to immigrants. A sample of 24 SEF professionals was selected, with origin in the North, Center and South regions of the country, with secondary and higher education, working at the Lisbon Border Directorate, Humberto Delgado Airport. For this exploratory study, the use of the qualitative method was privileged, by application of a questionnaire, through a semistructured interview, which allowed the collection of data, that was subject to content analysis. In general, it was concluded that practically all SEF professionals who participated in this study demonstrated beliefs, values and favorable attitudes to immigrants, with particular sensitivity towards the phenomenon and demonstrated to act with professionalism. However, given the results obtained, it was clear noticeable, albeit in residual numbers, that some professionals from this security service, now extinct, thought and acted under influence of social representations, stereotypes and prejudices. The results also illustrate the possibility of making improvements in terms of training, especially through learning and development of intercultural skills, which are crucial in the process of communication and interaction, which will facilitate this dynamic between diversified people and cultures. | pt_PT |
