As Agências Europeias são locais de multiculturalidade no seu funcionamento quotidiano e de grande diversidade de nacionalidades e culturas. Nestas organizações transnacionais caraterizadas por grande diversidade cultural e étnica, os seus profissionais deverão ter sensibilidade e consciência cultural desenvolvendo competências interculturais para uma melhor atuação. Assim, o objetivo foca-se na análise dos diferentes domínios da competência intercultural e nas perceções e importância que estes profissionais dão à mesma em organizações onde todos têm de cooperar para um objetivo comum. As agências europeias requerem uma conduta de aprendizagem social e cultural própria devido ao seu contexto e missões, onde a aprendizagem do outro e a comunicação intercultural são cada vez mais complexas e desafiantes nestes cenários. Nesta investigação de caráter exploratório, colocam-se várias questões, das quais salientamos algumas das que iremos abordar: Qual a perceção da importância da competência intercultural e que diferenças existem entre as Agências Europeias? Poderá a missão de cada agência influenciar a resposta dos seus profissionais sobre a importância da competência intercultural?
European Agencies are places of multiculturalism in their daily operation and of great diversity of nationalities and cultures. In these transnational organizations characterized by great cultural and ethnic diversity, their professionals must have cultural sensitivity and awareness, developing intercultural skills for a better performance. Thus, the objective is focused on the analysis of the different domains of intercultural competence and on the perceptions and importance that these professionals give to it in organizations where everyone has to cooperate towards a common goal. European agencies require their own social and cultural learning behaviour due to their context and missions, where learning from others and intercultural communication are increasingly complex and challenging in these scenarios. The investigation has an exploratory character, raising several questions, of which we highlight some of the ones that we will address: What is the perception of the importance of intercultural competence and what differences are there among the European Agencies? Could the mission of each agency influence the response of its professionals on the importance of intercultural competence?
