Vozes que moldam Abril pretende assinalar o cinquentenário de Abril, na atenção aos discursos presidenciais comemorativos da Revolução. A pertinência e importância desta investigação de base linguística assenta no pressuposto de que os discursos não são mero espelho do mundo, transparentes, antes são modos particulares de o construir. Não se pode dissociar o que o Presidente diz dos modos (linguísticos, discursivos) como o diz, dos contextos em que o diz. Analisar como são construídos os discursos presidenciais de celebração do 25 de Abril é um contributo fundamental para a compreensão dos usos e funcionamento da língua, mas também da recente História de Portugal.
Voices that shape April aims to mark the fiftieth anniversary of the Portuguese April Revolution by focusing on the presidential speeches commemorating this event. The relevance of this linguistic-based research is grounded on the assumption that discourse is not merely a transparent mirror of the world, but rather a particular means of constructing it. What the President says cannot be dissociated from the ways (linguistic and discursive) in which he says it or from the contexts in which he says it. Analyzing how the presidential speeches celebrating the revolution of 25 April are constructed is a fundamental contribution to understanding not only the uses and functions of language, but also the recent History of Portugal.
