Abstract(s)

Durante a segunda metade do século XIX muitas e(i)migrantes portuguesas se deslocaram ilegalmente para o Brasil. Contudo, devido à sua baixa representatividade numérica no contexto e(i) migratório, a experiência dessas mulheres tem sido relegada pela historiografia, em prol das análises que enfocam prioritariamente os e(i)migrantes do gênero masculino. Na tentativa de contribuir para o desvendamento dessas experiências, este artigo tem como objetivo problematizar, a partir de documentos consulares e fontes bibliográficas, relatos produzidos sobre mulheres e(i)migrantes.

Abstract : Many Portuguese emigrants/immigrants moved illegally to Brazil during the second half of the 19th century. However, due to the low number of emigrant/immigrant women in this context, their experience has been dismissed by historiography, in favor of analyses focused primarily on male emigrants/immigrants. In an attempt to unveil such experiences, this paper has the objective of problematizing, through consular documentation and bibliographical resources, the stories produced about the emigrant/immigrant women.
