Abstract(s)
Spoken in different geographic latitudes, Portuguese has given in, in its historical foundation, to a multicultural and multi-spatial language of expression, being, nowadays, a reference of pluralities and mediator of diverse perspectives of representation. Its trajectory, recorded in writing for at least eight centuries, demonstrates processes of variation and change. These have been micro and macroscopically built on the mainstay of history, reflecting the syntropic and entropic natures to which all natural languages are subject, that is, to the pendular integration which exists between the energy that makes up and moves its linguistic system, and the role of variables casually or randomly driven by its social system. In this paper, we intend to make a written review of aspects of variation and change, typical of Portuguese, at different levels of linguistic analysis, from its origin, in the archaic period, to contemporary Brazilian Portuguese, allowing for specific comparisons with other varieties of the Portuguese language around the world, as well as creoles with a Portuguese lexical base. From the perspective of historical linguistics, it seeks to serve as a macro sketch of the process of constitution of the language, in a dynamic and illustrative way, in the sense of its representation in time, chronologically evaluated, and in the space, in which it was constituted and in which today the dialect manifests itself and diastratically.
