Evocação de João Manuel Bairrão Oleiro (1923-2000), arqueólogo que se destacou pelos seus estudos sobre a Arqueologia Romana, enquanto universitário a quem se deve a criação do Instituto de Arqueologia da Universidade de Coimbra (1954) e da sua revista Conímbriga (1959), e ainda a fundação do Museu Monográfico de Conímbriga, de que foi o primeiro Director (1962-1967). Desempenhou também relevantes funções oficiais, desde a década de 1950 até ao cargo de Vice-Presidente do Instituto Português do Património Cultural (1987-1990).
O autor aborda em particular três documentos subscritos por JMBO entre 1955 e 1958, que retratam a sua visão da Arqueologia portuguesa à época.
The author evokes João Manuel Bairrão Oleiro (1923-2000), the archaeologist who stood out due to his studies of Roman Archaeology and who was responsible for the creation of the Institute of Archaeology of the University of Coimbra (1954) and its journal, Conímbriga (1959), as well as the foundation of the Monographic Museum of Conímbriga, which he directed from 1962-1967.
