Este artigo aborda problemáticas relativas ao ensino das ciências numa das principais línguas nacionais de Angola, o umbundu, com incidência numa temática de particular importância, o ciclo hidrológico. O estudo foi realizado em zona rural da Província do Kuanza-Sul, englobando docentes, estudantes e formadores de professores. A investigação fez emergir um conjunto de problemáticas a necessitarem de ser debatidas e aprofundadas, nomeadamente no âmbito da língua de ensino das ciências, na própria formação de professores e na relação que é possível estabelecer entre ciência e saberes tradicionais nos primeiros anos do ensino primário.
This article addresses issues related to science teaching in one of the main Angolan languages - umbundu. Although most Angolans have portuguese as their mother tongue, they integrate syntactic and phonological structures of the national languages. The present work, in the form of a case study, was carried out in the 2018 academic year and aims to understand the difficulties of the use of the umbundo in teaching the sciences (water cycle). The study was carried out in a rural area of the Province of Kuanza-Sul, comprising teachers, students and teacher trainers. The adoption of the national languages is supported by the Law, as well as principles that has the goal of the preservation and enhancement of national identity and culture. From the research outcomes emerged a set of problems that need to be debated and deepened in view to establish balances to the feasibility of the governamental aim.
