A açorianidade é o reconhecimento duma identidade cultural que se formou a partir das condições geográficas, meteorológicas, geológicas e históricas do arquipélago dos Açores. A açorianidade literária é a forma como os escritores açorianos representam a vivência insular nas suas obras, criando uma literatura regional com caraterísticas próprias, mas pertencente à literatura portuguesa. Esta dissertação estuda e atualiza a noção de açorianidade, tanto ao nível cultural e artístico, como político e ideológico, analisando o modo de ser e estar do açoriano dentro e fora do arquipélago. Este trabalho reflete, ainda, sobre a importância da obra literária açoriana enquanto forma de expressão e de divulgação da açorianidade, destacando o pioneirismo de Gaspar Frutuoso, a sensibilidade de Vitorino Nemésio e a perspetiva satírica de José Martins Garcia.
The “Azorianism” is known as a cultural identity derived from geographic, meteorological, geological and historical conditions of the Azoreans islands. The literary “Azorianism” is the way through which the Azorean writers represent the insular experiences in their work, creating a regional literature with unique characteristics, but part of Portuguese literature. This Master's theses studies and updates the concept of “Azorianism” at the cultural, artistic, political and ideological levels, and it examines how the Azorean people feel and behave inside and outside of the archipelago. In addition, this work reflects about the importance of the Azorean literary work as a body of expression and exposure of “Azorianism”, highlighting the pioneering work of Gaspar Frutuoso, the sensibility of Vitorino Nemésio and the satirical perspective of José Martins Garcia.
