Esta dissertação visa estabelecer um estudo comparado entre um conjunto de obras literárias de Almeida Faria e as pinturas que Mário Botas criou especificamente para ilustrar os livros do escritor.
Para fundamentar a nossa análise teórica optámos por recorrer a textos críticos, bem como a considerações estéticas de autores conceituados, nacionais e estrangeiros.
A estrutura do trabalho compreende um breve capítulo dedicado à primeira obra de Almeida Faria, Rumor Branco; um outro sobre a Tetralogia Lusitana; e, um terceiro, onde se pretende relacionar a imagética do Surrealismo e do grotesco nas derradeiras obras em que Almeida Faria e Mário Botas colaboraram.
The aim of this dissertation is to establish a comparative study between a set of literary works of Almeida Faria and some of the paintings, created by Mário Botas, to illustrate specifically those books. In order to substantiate the theoretical analysis we selected several critical texts and also the aesthetical considerations given by well-known authors, both national and foreign. The structure of the work includes a brief chapter dedicated to the first book of Almeida Faria, Rumor Branco; another one about Tetralogia Lusitana; and a third chapter where we intend to relate the imagery of Surrealism and the grotesque of the last works in which Almeida Faria and Mário Botas have collaborated.
