Abstract(s)
O estudo do património azulejar dos séculos XVII e XVIII no concelho de Sesimbra
partiu da sua pesquisa in loco com base em anteriores identificações até se conseguir uma
compilação reveladora da sua atual existência.
A possibilidade de podermos encontrar exemplares que nos remetem para o longo
período barroco, o Ciclo dos Mestres, a Grande Produção Joanina, o gosto rocaille, o
surgimento das Figuras de Convite e dos painéis historiados, leva a que possa ser desenhado,
para quem se interesse por esta representação artística, um roteiro de circuitos com
itinerários simples, curtos e perfeitamente identificados que facilitarão o seu conhecimento
no dealbar da terceira década do século XXI.
Temporalmente envolvido numa época onde as manifestações artísticas do barroco
se estendem a outras artes para além do azulejo, casos da talha dourada da pintura e da
escultura entre outras e que também marcam presença em alguns espaços, o inerente
conceito de Arte Total será obrigatório e necessariamente objeto de atenta referência.
Este património inserido em três realidades que gerem e definem a propriedade dos
locais onde os mesmos estão implantados (municipais, religiosos e palacianos), apresenta
por vezes alguns condicionalismos no livre acesso aos seus interiores, o que dificulta a
pretendida apreciação.
Ao sermos diariamente confrontados com uma realidade onde o crescente afluxo
turístico, ávido na descoberta do que é verdadeiramente genuíno, teremos de ter a noção de
que a apresentação deste património azulejar é certamente uma considerável mais valia que
não pode ser ignorada.
The 17th and 18th centuries study of the azulejo* heritage in the Sesimbra country started from an in loco research based on previous identifications until a revealing compilation of its current existence was achieved. Being able to find samples that remind us of the long baroque period, the Ciclo dos Mestres (Master’s Cycle), the Great Joanina Production, the rocaille taste, the emergence of the Figuras de Convite (Welcoming Figures) and the historiated panels, leads to the design, for those interested in this artistic representation, of a circuit script with simple, short and perfectly identified itineraries that will facilitate their knowledge in the beginning of the third decade of the 21st century. It develops in a time period were the artistic baroque manifestations extends to other arts, rather than azulejo*, like for example gold carving, painting and sculpture among others, as it is possible to admire in many places. The concept of Total Art is therefore required as it obviously deserves an accurate study and it will be carefully mentioned in this study. This patrimony, divided in three realities that define local properties as municipalities, religious and palaces, presents in same cases difficulties to have indoor access which makes it more complicated to have it available for the general public. We daily face the reality of growing on incoming tourism, with people eager to discover the genuine. This represents a significant economic income giving this patrimony an importance that cannot be ignored.
