Este ensaio constitui uma síntese da nossa reflexão sobre os valores da modernidade, sustentados na trilogia ciência/tecnologia, liberdade/igualdade e progresso, à qual subjaz o princípio da valorização do mundo terreno, e sobre a forma como estes axiomas são postos em causa pelo pós-modernismo, ao trazer a debate novas preocupações ligadas ao ambiente, à justiça e ao direito à diferença.
This essay is a synthesis of our re-flection on the values of modernity, based on the trilogy of science/technology, freedom/equality and progress, with the underlying principle of valuing the earthly world, and on how these axioms are called into question by postmodernism, by bringing to the fore new concerns about the environment, justice and the right to difference.
