Partindo do estudo de um arquivo de família, o Almada e Lencastre Bastos, à guarda da Biblioteca Nacional de Portugal, o artigo apresenta novos dados sobre a instituição de hospitais de assistência a pobres e peregrinos quinhentistas, em Ponte da Barca, pela família Magalhães, senhores da mesma localidade.
This article presents new data on the foundation of 16th century hospitals for the poor and pilgrims by the Magalhães family, lords of Ponte da Barca, based onthe study of a family archive, the Almada and Lencastre Bastos fonds, held by the National Library of Portugal.
