Abstract(s)
Esta dissertação final de mestrado tem como objetivo um olhar compreensivo sobre
a evolução do uso dos títulos académicos no contexto universitário de ensino de Português
Língua Estrangeira (PLE) na Região Administrativa Especial de Macau da República
Popular da China. Trata-se duma investigação qualitativa e empírica baseada em
entrevistas presenciais com professores e alunos universitários da área do PLE, sendo
intenção da mesma avaliar como estes dois grupos de agentes, em contexto de sala de aula,
percecionam o uso dos títulos e da delicadeza dentro do seu próprio condicionamento
cultural, bem como a sua perceção quando postos perante a crítica a esse mesmo
condicionamento.
Entre outros, este estudo tem como guia teórico os trabalhos de Richard J. Watts,
Sachiko Ide e Konrad Ehlich, e suas publicações sobre a questão da delicadeza e a
interculturalidade, ambicionando perceber a essência e o valor da delicadeza no contexto
cultural e intercultural em que se insere – neste caso o Chinês e o Português.
Realizou-se uma pesquisa bibliográfica sobre os temas da delicadeza, da
interculturalidade, da ‘face’, das semânticas de poder, como também, o que define a
identidade e o comportamento de certa cultura, ou seja, as componentes linguísticas,
históricas, religiosas, sociais, políticas, de classe, etc., com o propósito de entender melhor
como estas culturas, através da língua e da comunicação extralinguística, interagem num
espaço comum.
The following Masters final dissertation has for one of its goals, a comprehensive look on the evolution of the usage of academic titles within the Portuguese Foreign Language (PFL) university context in the Macau Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China. It consists on a qualitative and empirical investigation based on presential interviews with university level education teachers and students involved in the field of PFL. It is our intention to evaluate how the 2 groups of agents, that take part in the PFL classroom, perceive the usage of titles and politeness within their own cultural conditioning as well as their perception when faced with the critique of that same conditioning. It has for theorical beacon the works of Richard J. Watts, Sachiko Ide e Konrad Ehlich, amongst others, and their publications on the issue of politeness and interculturality. This study hopes to understand the essence and the value of politeness within the cultural and intercultural context where it happens, in this case, the Portuguese and Chinese one(s). A bibliographic research was carried out on the topics of politeness, interculturality, ‘facework’, power semantics, as well, on what defines the identity and behaviour of a specific culture, that is its linguistic, historical, religious, social, political, class, etc, components. With the intent of understanding better how these cultures, through language and non-verbal communication, interact within a shared spaced.
