Abstract(s)
Managing Health Units is challenging, requiring harmonization between management, outcomes, and healthcare provision. A manager/leader in these organizations must seek continuous improvement in the quality of services to optimize outcomes and promote the well-being of the user/client. Effective leadership is increasingly associated with emotional competencies, positively impacting the overall culture, climate, and team performance within an organization. Professional satisfaction serves as an indicator of organizational climate that can influence outcomes. These challenges are not indifferent to the Diagnostic and Therapeutic Technologist. The main objective was to deepen understanding of Emotional Intelligence (EI) and Professional Satisfaction (PS) among these professionals. The study involved a questionnaire. It was found that EI does not correlate positively with PS, but a statistically positive correlation (p<0.05) was observed between EI and "Continuous improvement of quality." Although results cannot be generalized due to the methodology, investigating the possible correlation between EI and PS contributes academically to the subject. Lastly, potential differences in EI and PS were analysed concerning sociodemographic and professional factors, contributing to academic and professional advancements. This research was conducted in the Autonomous Region of Madeira, among Diagnostic and Therapeutic Technicians, prompting reflection on EI and PS. The scarcity of studies in this region, particularly among Diagnostic and Therapeutic Technicians, underscores the importance and contribution of this research.
