O estudo realizado foca-se na análise do papel da Biblioteca Escolar no sucesso
escolar dos alunos, em especial em contextos marcados pela dificuldade no acesso à
informação. Considerando que a biblioteca escolar é uma estrutura de apoio educativo
e não um simples depósito de livros e materiais de consulta utilizados pela comunidade
escolar, interessava-nos perceber como é que a biblioteca escolar é encarada pela
comunidade escolar e como é que a biblioteca é usada e dinamizada.
O estudo empírico foi realizado na Escola Secundária de Tete, baseado num estudo de
caráter misto, apoiado na observação e na aplicação de um questionário e de
entrevistas. Foram envolvidos no estudo vários elementos da comunidade escolar:
alunos, professores, bibliotecário e direção da escola. A partir da análise dos dados
recolhidos, verificámos a existência de um conjunto de problema, em especial a falta de
recursos de apoio ao ensino e à aprendizagem, que dificultam que a biblioteca escolar
cumpra plenamente a sua função.
The study carried out focuses on the analysis of the role of the School Library in the students' academic success, especially in contexts marked by the difficulty in accessing information. Considering that the school library is an educational support structure and not a simple deposit of books and reference materials used by the school community, we were interested in understanding how the school library is viewed by the school community and how the library is used and managed. The empirical study was carried out at the Escola Secundária de Tete, based on a mixed study, supported by observation and the application of a questionnaire and interviews. Several elements of the school community were involved in the study: students, teachers, the librarian and the school management. From the analysis of the collected data, we verified the existence of a set of problems, in particular the lack of resources to support teaching and learning, which make it difficult for the school library to fully fulfill its function.
