Abstract(s)
O conhecimento sobre os alunos é fundamental para a boa prática educativa, dessa necessidade surgiu este estudo. Identificar factores que possam influenciar a aprendizagem da língua portuguesa tais como os motivos da escolha, as relações e contactos prévios com a mesma; e percepção da sua importância, nortearam a pesquisa e a investigação.
Procurámos desta forma, compreender estes aspectos e abrir caminho para outros trabalhos nesta área.
Para a consecução desta finalidade utilizámos a pesquisa bibliográfica e realizámos um estudo de caso recorrendo a um questionário sociolinguístico que aplicámos a dezanove alunos, nove do sexo masculino e dez do sexo feminino.
Constatámos que a maioria dos alunos não tem qualquer relação ou contacto prévio com a língua portuguesa e que se decidiram pela sua aprendizagem, sobretudo por vislumbrarem um papel importante da língua na sua vida profissional e social, demostrando interesse no aspecto cultural.
Não conseguimos estabelecer nexos de causalidade entre os resultados obtidos e as variáveis idade, sexo e tempo de aprendizagem da língua portuguesa.

To identify factors which might influence the learning of Portuguese language such as motives for the choice, previous links and connections with the language, perception of its importance orientated this research. Therefore, we sought to comprehend these aspects and lead the way for further work in this area. To achieve this end we used the bibliographic research and carried out a case study making use of a sociolinguistic questionnaire provided to nineteen students, nine males and ten females. We confirmed that the most part of the students has no previous link or connections with the Portuguese language and decided to learn it mostly because they foresee an important role of this language in their professional and social life, showing interest in its cultural aspect. We couldn´t establish a causal nexus between the obtained results and age, gender or the time the students have been attending the Portuguese classes.
