Abstract(s)
A poesia de Cesário Verde constitui o «grau zero», para citar uma
expressão de Eduardo Lourenço, da poesia portuguesa contemporânea.
Cesário é também considerado um dos maiores poetas portugueses, sendo
a sua poesia lida como exemplo para defesa de várias teses: assinala a
passagem entre o romantismo e o realismo com uma perfeição formal
parnasiana; representa o binómio contrastante do campo e da cidade; descreve
a mulher como lugar de sossego e de desassossego.
O presente trabalho, partindo destes pressupostos, pretende chegar
àquele que Lourenço enuncia. Para isso, descrever-se-á um caminho de
aprendizagem do dizer poético, caminho feito nos poemas «Nevroses», «Num
Bairro Moderno», «Cristalizações» e «Noitada», avançando-se depois para «O
Sentimento dum Ocidental» e «Nós».
Do resultado desta aprendizagem, poder-se-á dizer que aqueles poemas
instauram um idioma que permite colocá-los em diálogo com outros graus zeros
da poesia contemporânea e mostrar que a poesia transmite, mais do que
conhecimento, modos de ver.
Cesário Verde's poetry is the «zero degree» of contemporary Portuguese poetry, quoting Eduardo Lourenço. Cesário is also considered one of the greatest Portuguese poets, and his poetry is read as an example for the defense of several theses: it marks the passage between romanticism and realism with a formal parnassian perfection; it represents the contrasting binomial of the countryside and the city; it describes the woman as a place of rest and restlessness. The present work, starting from these assumptions, intends to reach the one that Lourenço enunciates. For this, we will describe a way of learning the poetic saying, the path made in the poems «Nevroses», «Num Bairro Moderno», «Cristalizações» and «Noitada», then moving on to «O Sentimento dum Ocidental» and «Nós». As a result of this learning process, we can say that these poems establish a language that allows them to dialogue with other zero degrees of contemporary poetry and can show that poetry conveys, rather than knowledge, ways of seeing.
