Abstract(s)
A corrente literƔria neorrealista estƔ profundamente enraizada e comprometida
nosso paĆs serĆ£o abordados no terceiro capĆtulo.
This dissertation intends to demonstrate how the portuguese neorealist literature and the dictatorial regime in force in the country at the time it emerged and developed are interconnected and to what extent it contributed to the deconstruction of the doctrinal values of what became known to history as Estado Novo, under the governance of Salazar (his mentor) and Marcelo Caetano. The neorealist literary current is deeply rooted and committed to the society in which it operates and its history, trying, on the one hand, to embrace reality as it is and, on the other, to transform it and build a different reality for the which is facing. In this sense, the dissertation will begin with a theoretical and methodological framework that will synthetically cover the paths of narratology, focusing on the study of the character. The second chapter will deal with the historical contextualization of portuguese neorealism, that is, the birth, ideology, values and decadence of the Estado Novo. The fundamentals of the literary movement and its birth and development in our country will be addressed in the third chapter. To investigate the way in which the neorealist narrative presents reality and tries, in this way, to raise awareness of society, novels written in this period will be studied, namely āGaibĆ©usā, by Alves Redol, āEsteirosā, by Soeiro Pereira Gomes ā the first two novels from this movement, which appeared in 1939 and 1941, respectively ā and a third novel, āO Trigo e o Joioā, by Fernando Namora, published in 1954. The methodology used to carry out this scientific work is theoretical and expository.
