Abstract(s)
O objectivo desta dissertação é explorar o uso de sistemas de gestão de conhecimento com
ferramentas de colaboração e negócios sociais através da lente teórica do capital social.
O estudo foi feito através da recolha de dados dos funcionários da instituição financeira Air Force
Federal Credit Union.
Os dados quantitativos foram recolhidos através de um formulário online fornecido aos
funcionários via SurveyMonkey. Os dados qualitativos foram recolhidos em pessoa através de uma
entrevista a c-level e VP executivos na cede da cooperativa de crédito.
Este estudo fornece uma melhor compreensão em relação ao uso e frequência do uso ferramentas
de colaboração e negócios sociais, mostrando uma forte relação com manutenção de capital social.
Revela também que a capacidade da gestão de conhecimento com ferramentas de colaboração e
negócios sociais em satisfazer as necessidades e expectativas do utilizador influencia o
desenvolvimento de capital social transitório.
Contudo, durante as entrevistas e análise, este estudo revelou a importância e impacto da perspetiva
da gerência sénior no uso de gestão de conhecimento com ferramentas de colaboração e negócios
sociais e a necessidade de gestão de conhecimento, que no futuro pode ser tema de mais estudos.
As implicações práticas deste estudo são a compreensão dos potenciais benefícios e limitações das
ferramentas de colaboração e negócios sociais no desenvolvimento de capital social e gestão de
conhecimento, que pode ser aplicado no contexto de uma organização para melhorar a assimilação
e uso de ferramentas sociais.
As limitações deste estudo incluem o facto de ter tido uma amostra bastante pequena, e a limitação
das ferramentas em uso definidas pelos gestores da organização.
The purpose of this thesis is to explore the usage of enterprise-wide knowledge management systems with tools for collaboration and social business, through the theoretical lens of social capital. The study was done through the collection of data from the employees of the financial institution Air Force Federal Credit Union. The quantitative data was collected from a webbased survey was made available to the employees via SurveyMonkey. The qualitative data was collected in person through interviews to C-level and VP executives at the credit union’s headquarters. This study provides better understanding on how the use and frequency of usage of tools for collaboration and social business affect social capital, showing a strong linkage with maintained social capital. And it reveals that the capability of the knowledge management systems with tools for collaboration and social business to meet the needs and expectations of the user influence the development of bridging social capital. However, during the interviews and analysis, this study revealed the importance and impact of the senior management’s perspective on the use of the knowledge management systems and the need of knowledge management, which could be the theme for future studies. The practical implications of this study are the understanding of potential benefits and limitations of collaboration and social tools in the growth of social capital and in the development of knowledge management, which can be applied to the context of an organization to improve assimilation and the use of social tools. The limitations include a small sample and the limitation of features used, defined by senior management.
