José Saramago (1922-2010) fez uso da intertextualidade para a composição de diversas obras, sendo a paródia um dos recursos mais frequentemente empregados para o estabelecimento dos diálogos entre textos. O Evangelho segundo Jesus Cristo (1991) é a obra na qual o diálogo paródico com um dos livros mais famosos do mundo, a Bíblia, se faz avultante. O objetivo desta reflexão é averiguar de que modo Saramago serve-se da paródia para o desenvolvimento de sua narrativa, tanto no que se refere à desconstrução clara e eficaz do texto bíblico, quanto no que diz respeito à manutenção de certos elementos contidos nos relatos canônicos para a posterior subversão.
The purpose of this reflection is to find out how José Saramago (1922-2010) uses parody for the development of his narrative, both regarding the clear and effective deconstruction of the biblical text and the maintenance of certain elements found in the canonical accounts for later subversion. This last characteristic of the parody is hardly taken into account in the various critical readings on the construction of the fictional discourse in O evangelho segundo Jesus Cristo (1991), since clearly the «deconstructive» parody, with the full subversion of biblical texts, can already be seen at a first reading of the narrative.
