| dc.description.abstract | A escolaridade concluída e a atividade profissional continuam a ser duas das principais dimensões consideradas para a definição do estatuto social dos indivíduos e para os lugares de classe na estrutura social (Schnapper, 2007; Estanque, 2005). A expetativa de obter um diploma do ensino superior é um objetivo que muitos indivíduos adultos procuram concretizar. Através de um inquérito por questionário aplicado aos licenciados da Universidade Aberta que concluíram a sua licenciatura entre 2011 e 2013 pretendemos conhecer o perfil sociográfico dos licenciados e a relação entre a obtenção da licenciatura com processos de mobilidade social ao nível da carreira profissional mas também ao percurso de vida (também ao nível das relações sociais e interpessoais, satisfação pessoal e enriquecimento cultural). O principal objetivo é aprofundar o impacto do diploma como instrumento de concretização das expetativas em termos de autoestima e de prestígio social, no sentido de “distinção” (Bourdieu, 1979). O perfil dos estudantes da Universidade Aberta diferencia-se do de outros estudantes do ensino superior, por se tratar de uma população adulta quase sempre inserida já no mercado de trabalho. Considerando os objetivos individuais para a realização da licenciatura e a sua efetiva concretização procurou-se conhecer as trajetórias sociais e perceber se existe progressão significativa na situação profissional antes e após a conclusão da licenciatura. | pt_PT |
| dc.description.abstract | The level of education and the professional activity continue to be two of the main dimensions considered for defining the social status of individuals and the social class in the social structure (Schnapper, 2007; Estanque, 2005). The expectation to obtain a higher education degree is a goal that many adults seek to achieve and leads them to enter into this learning path. Through a questionnaire applied to graduates who completed their degree between 2011 and 2013, this research intends to identify the sociographic profile of graduates and the relationship between obtaining a degree and the social mobility processes in a professional career, and as well to consider the life trajectories (also the interpersonal relations, personal satisfaction and cultural enrichment). Hence, the main objective of this research project is to deepen the extent to which the degree is understood as an instrument for achieving expectations in terms of self-esteem and social prestige, in the sense of "distinction” (Bourdieu, 1979). The profile of students of the Universidade Aberta differs from other students in other higher education institutions, because it is an adult population mostly already established in the labour market. Taking into account the individual objectives for the achievement of the degree and its effective implementation, this project aimed at recognizing the social trajectories, see if there is a progression between the profession al status before and after the graduation. | pt_PT |
