Abstract(s)
Allergies to fish products as other allergies are increasing and are now a public health concern. The capture of sea organisms by multipurpose fishing is responsible for the outof-water contact between different species of different allergens groups. This research assesses the perception that fisher have about these problems. An attempt was made to assess, in two fishing communities, the level of knowledge of fisher concerning fish allergies, whether handled or ingested, as well as whether their daily practices were the most suitable for the population in general, that may develop allergies only to one type of food. It was also evaluated the perception of fisher regarding the handling of fishing products and whether they could be a factor in allergic reactions to them. In order to assess the risk to which they are exposed, skin tests were carried out on the most caught species in their daily lives. It is necessary to make (in)formative campaigns to fisher on this subject
