| dc.description.abstract | The largest number of Lebanese diasporas is to be found in Brazil. The Lebanese immigration of Arabs to Brazil started in the late 19th century and grew in the 20th century. At first working as traders, the immigrants and their children produce Brazilian literature but look at the Arab world, while the Arabic roots grow deep in Brazil’ s rich melting pot. My paper will describe the character and tendencies of a number of works by recent and contemporary writers such as Milton Hatoum, Raduan Nassar and Salim Miguel. These works tell the story of Lebanese immigration but also show the tension between proximity and distance (geographic and cultural) and are seduced by the narrative processes of "One Thousand and One Nights" | pt_PT |
