| dc.description.abstract | Fernão Lopes and Gomes Eanes de Zurara, two of the most emblematic chroniclers of 15th-century Portugal, explored the theme of supernatural revelations in their works, integrating them in a way that transcended mere historical record. Trough visions, dreams, and prophecies, these transcendental elements not only conferred an almost divine legitimacy to the narrated events but also played a central role in consolidating identities and strengthening the project of constructing a collective memory. Tis study aims to uncover the narrative and visual strategies used by both authors. Troughout this analysis, the objective is to understand how these supernatural elements are employed to construct historical narratives and how they relate to the theological and philosophical discussions of the time. We will focus solely on episodes in which phenomena identifed as visions and dreams, either explicitly or implicitly, occur. Other supernatural premonitory elements, such as omens and prodigies, which also appear frequently in their chronicles, will be set aside. | eng |
