Abstract(s)
A cidade
cena musical paulistana.
This study aims to learn about the influences that cities play in the process of creating inner urban cultures and subcultures. The city of São Paulo, in Brazil, influenced the creation of a branch of music called Funk Carioca, created in the city of Rio de Janeiro, having been adjusted to the social and cultural characteristics of the population and its urban organization. This new musical strand became an urban subculture because it differentiated itself from other subcultures in the São Paulo space. This study was inspired by a book written by an American named David Maraniss in 2015, in which he reports the creation of a Soul music strand, called Motown Soul, provoked by the urban forms of Detroit's black community neighbourhoods. Applying this analysis to the city of São Paulo qualitative research was made, through a virtual ethnography, with funk lovers, followers, or practitioners and people involved in the creation of this musical style and that allowed us to conclude that there is a strong implantation of the musical style in the city and is characterized by an urban subculture with the presence of its strands in the São Paulo music scene.
