We present a teaching, research, and outreach project developed by the Research Group on Arts, Visual Culture, and Education (PEACE / CNPq) in the city of São Cristóvão, Sergipe state, Brazil. We considered the city's tourism potential and the strengthening of the relationship between crafts and tourism, which would contribute to the region's development. Representing cultural heritage could add value to the products, but the work should not take forms valued by experts without "resonating" with the community. The project's objective was to analyze strategies that could enable crafts to preserve cultural ties without reproducing a fixed tradition. The project involved cross-cutting themes; however, it was centered on social entrepreneurship. Regarding the approach, the study is qualitative. The preferred methodologies were Design Thinking and Affective Cartography. Regarding the results, we present a report of experiences that can be replicated. In addition to involving artisans, the proposal was relevant for students from higher education to primary education, extending to another city in Sergipe and becoming a mandatory subject in the Visual Arts course.
