Abstract(s)
Business continuity planning requires a holistic approach that takes into account technology, resources and organizational aspects. Currently, there is not a solution of continuity planning that addresses the specific needs of the Portuguese Public Administration organizations that is scientifically validated, standards-based and uses best practices frameworks. In this work we propose to use the Enterprise Architecture (EA) and the graphic language ArchiMate to model the process of continuity management, aligning the proposed solution with the framework COBIT 5, targeting the improvement of planning business continuity initiatives. The use of modeling EA practices to address the problem identified aims to facilitate the communication between stakeholders, to provide representations and their repositories of the essential aspects of the business and its dependencies of the Information Systems (IS). This thesis was demonstrated and assessed in a large organization of the Portuguese Public Administration using evaluation forms and interviews with Information Technology (IT) professionals.
