Abstract(s)
desenvolvimento.
The introduction of e-Learning in Higher Education is a worldwide successful process and a cornerstone for the growth of developing societies. In Portugal there are already some initiatives being developed in e-Learning teaching in Higher Education, but they are extremely diverse and for years only a few Universities and Institutes have effectively promoted real learning alternatives based on information and communication technologies. On the contrary, these experiments focused on the use of e-Learning platforms (MOODLE) for documentary support to Curricular Units. The exploratory nature of the e-Learning initiative of the Polytechnic Institute of Portalegre, a public Higher Education Polytechnic Institution, presents unique characteristics, which state its scientific and academic interest. On the one hand, this initiative derives both from the strategic vision laid down by the Institute and from the necessary adjustment of its academic practice to the Bologna paradigm. On the other hand, both its own geographical situation requires it, as well as the student’s economic situation. This paper describes the e-Learning process at the Polytechnic Institute of Portalegre, the assessment undertaken throughout the academic year 2012/2013 and the 1st Semester 2013/2014, the period in which some Blended Learning Curricular Units were offered in 2nd Cycle and Post-Graduation Degree Courses, and when the pedagogical models adapted to the students’ module of online adaptation were defined.
