O nome do escritor Milan Kundera começa a ser conhecido internacionalmente depois da publicação, no outono de 1968, de uma tradução francesa de Zert (La Plaisanterie - A Brincadeira).
Acabado de redigir em 1965 e publicado em 1967 na Checoslováquia onde é bem acolhido pela crítica e pelos leitores, o livro narra a história de um jovem estudante checoslovaco, em finais da década de 1940, que por ter escrito uma brincadeira num postal destinada à namorada sobre questões de ortodoxia comunista, acaba por ser expulso da organização de jovens estudantes e da própria universidade.
The name of the writer Milan Kundera begins to be known internationally after the publication, in the autumn of 1968, of a French translation of Zert (La Plaisanterie – A Brincadeira). Just written in 1965 and published in 1967 in Czec hoslovakia where it is well received by critics and readers, the book tells the story of a young Czechoslovak student in the late 1940s, who wrote a joke on a postcard for his girlfriend on issues of communist orthodoxy, he was eventually expelled from the organization of young students and from the university itself.
