Abstract(s)
A nível
This research is based on our professional motivation, as a teacher of Portuguese Teaching Abroad - EPE, in France, in the International Teaching of Foreign Language (EILE) modality, and it aims at developing a reflection on how the issues of plurilingualism and interculture have been approched by the French educational system. France is a multicultural country where cultures coexist, languages are heard and spoken, and there are infrastructures covering all these cultures. At the educational level, it is a country that continues to demonstrate an apparent intercultural harmony in schools, with the implementation of language policies that continue to foster and enhance plurilingualism even after the terrorist attacks occurred in 2015. In this sense, this research starts from the need to verify if there are implemented practices regarding the development of intercultural competences (IC) and the promotion of plurilingualism in education in France, since we understand that the school, as institution responsible for forming citizens able to interact in an increasingly globalized world, should implement projects and develop pedagogical practices that foster such skills. Taking into account the problematic under study, our fieldwork focuses on the analysis of a corpus constituted in the first place by the observed projects and the observation made during the “EILE and Language Teaching and Culture of Origin (ELCO) teachers courses”, teachers training and secondly by the questionnaire surveys collected in relation to the training of thoese teachers and their general opinion on the subject. This study aims to contribute to a greater appreciation of the development of IQs in language teaching´s importance as well as to contribute to a greater awareness of multilingualism´s promotion in societies in general, namely through the implementation of projects and partnerships with other organisms. This should continue to give a positive image modern teaching showing the advantages of learning multiple languages.
